The annual TIL weekend has so much content that it couldn’t possibly fit in a single evening. As a result, for several years, we have divvied up award presentations and new member readings—along with other lovely outings and tours—over the course of two days. Friday and Saturday in El Paso before the banquet went as follows:
Friday, April 22
9:00 AM—TIL tour of El Segundo Barrio, its history and street murals, led by historian David Romo.
2:30 PM—Guided tour of El Paso Museum of Art
5:00 PM—New Members Welcoming Event
6:00-8:00 PM—Opening Reception
8:00-10:00 PM—Poetry Awards with emcee Sergio Troncoso, and Readings by New Members: Carol Flake Chapman, Melissa Studdard, and Edward Vidaurre
Saturday, April 23
10:00-11:30 AM—Children’s Book Awards with emcee Diana López, and Readings by New Members: Chris Barton, Don Tate, and Jennifer Ziegler
1:30-3:00 PM—With emcee Bill Sibley, Readings by New Members: Frederick Luis Aldama, Shelley Armitage, Will Evans, and Catherine Clinton
